12 Steps Easy Ways To Remove A Hard Case From A Phone

How To Remove A Hard Case From A Phone - Plastic hard cases are great protection for your phone, but they can be difficult to remove. It can be difficult to apply the right amount of pressure when removing the case while being gentle with your phone. Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use to quickly and safely detach your hard case.

  • Removing the case by hand

1. Put a towel on the table to cushion your phone. If you accidentally drop your phone or it falls out of the case unexpectedly, you can damage your screen. For extra protection, lay down a soft towel or pillowcase before removing the cover.

Make sure you work with a table under your phone so it doesn't accidentally fall on the floor.

2. Start with the side with the fewest buttons. Take a look at your phone and determine which side is easiest to detach. Usually it's the side where there are no volume buttons.

The side without the buttons is easier to remove as there is less bulk to work around.

3. Place your thumbnail under the case in the bottom corner. Gently poke your nail between your case and your phone, trying not to bend your case too much. Wiggle your nail back and forth if you're having trouble inserting it between the case and your phone.

If you don't have long nails, try a credit card instead.

4. Pry the bottom corner of the case away from your phone. Pull the case down and out to gently slide it away from your phone. Try not to bend your case at all so you don't damage your phone.

The bottom corner is usually easier to pull off first because it's farthest from the side buttons.

5. Pull the top corner of the case away from your phone. Again, use your thumbnail to pull the top corner outward and down on the same side of your case. When doing this, hold your phone firmly as it may fall out of the case when you pull off the top corner.

6. Pop off the entire side of the case. Slide your thumb down to detach the rest of the case. Your case may have already fallen off one side of your phone, which works too! Get ready to catch it in case your phone falls out of the case.

7. Drop your phone out of the case. Flip your case over and let your phone fall out the other side. Since one side is already detached, have your phone ready as it will slide out easily.

You can also grab your phone and pull it out of the case when it's difficult.

1. Find a seam in your phone case, if there is one. Some suitcases are assembled from 2 plastic parts instead of 1 solid part. Locate the stitching on the outside edges of your phone case so you know where to start taking your case apart.

If you had to put on your phone case in 2 parts, it most likely has a seam on the sides.

2. Insert the tip of the prying tool into the seam of your case. Pry tools are small plastic tools with a flat point on the end. Use the flat tip to pull apart the seam of your phone case and pinch the tool between the two sides.

You can find phone case pry tools at most tech supply stores.

3. Slide the tool down the side of your case. Make sure the tool is really wedged between the two sides so it stays in the seam the whole time. Use the tool to separate the case all the way down on one side.

Try not to push the tool down too hard or you could damage your case. Walk slowly and gently all the way down.

You may hear a slight pop or pop as the case separates.

4. Pop off the side of the case with the pry tool. Once you've reached the bottom of one side, use the tool to gently pry the top of the case from the back. This should separate most of the case from the back, making it easy to remove.

Think of your prying tool as a tiny pry bar to pry the parts of your case apart.

5. Use the pry tool on the other side of the case. With the other side of your case still attached, pinch the tip of the prying tool between the seams on that side, then push down until the whole thing pops off. Then you can disassemble and remove your case from your phone.
